Phantom Spectershark

Based on the fantastical and haunting universe of
Guillermo del Toro

The Spectershark is a deep sea creature and, like the singing of a mermaid, the Spectershark has the power to hypnotize and create illusions by using the bioluminescent light of its fins to hunt submarines that are filled with humans.

Drawing from Del Toro's signature blend of horror and fantasy, I designed a creature that feels both otherworldly and grounded in deep sea, biology-glowing textures, unnatural anatomy, and an eerie elegance that evokes both fear and fascination.

Project Tasks:

To create a "sculpture" of a frightening new fictional creature that lives at the center of the deep sea, the concept is to be used in a horror movie inspired by the fantastical world of bioluminescent sea life that populates forbidden waters.
Create a turn table of the sculpture.
Create an animate of the sculpture to showcase how the creature moves under water.

Inspiration

To create and visualize my creature, I was inspired by the Ghost Shark, a shark that lives deep in the sea. It has a holy energy with a grotesque mouth.
